Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring with me to the session?

We will discuss this during our consultation, but most importantly, just bring a smile!

The rest, just leave it to us.

What is the difference between Retouched and Full Edited?

Many photographers use these words interchangeably. We define retouched as having basic lighting and color adjustments, minor skin toning and blemish removal, cropping, teeth whitening, and minor enhancements. Full Editing is the process of image manipulation such as removing objects, changing elements of the photograph such as backgrounds, minimizing double chins, hair color, etc. Full Editing is included in all of our print options and is available for digital image purchases at an extra charge.

How long do you keep images on file if I lose my digitals or want to purchase more?

We keep all proof and final images for one year. If more than one year has passed since your session, please feel free to contact us and we’ll see if we can still pull them from an archive.

What type of products do you offer?

We have a variety of products available for you to purchase. We offer prints in Classic Canvas and Metal, exquisite albums and a variety of collections for your home, and digital photographs. All print purchases include full editing and the high-resolution digital photograph used to produce the print.

We don’t have a minimum purchase. We will work together to create a custom collection for you based on your selections and desires.

What is a “digital Portrait photograph”?

A digital Portrait photograph is a smaller version of our digital photographs designed for online digital use. It still comes with a print release and you can print up to 8x10 with no loss of quality. Some print larger, but we don’t propose that you do so. The smaller image is perfect for websites and social media as it is easy to use and store on your computer, phone, or tablet.

What should I wear?

What emotion or feeling do you want to portray? What memory do you want to record? You may want to wear casual clothing for an informal portrait or formal clothing. For all photographs, mild textures are nice. Avoid tweeds, plaids, bold stripes, and complex patterns. Don't wear bulky, shiny, or distracting jewelry in most cases. Also avoid heavy makeup, especially very glossy lipstick.

Do your sessions include hair and makeup services?

Our sessions do not include hair and makeup services. Our clients prefer to arrange this themselves with the people are comfortable with and then come to the session prepared to go.

How do I pose?

We are here to help you feel relaxed and have fun. We'll coach you into a variety of poses and expressions and shoot photos from different angles to make sure we have a lot of great images and options for you to choose from. We will never just put you in front of the camera and expect you to figure it out; that said, if you have something in mind, just let us know and we'll do our best to capture that with our cameras!

I feel nervous and uncomfortable in front of the camera. What should I do?

We will do everything we can to help you feel at ease. That said, listening to music or calm deep breathing exercises may help before the session. Seriously, just relax and be calm, it's just a camera!

What if I'm not photogenic?

You are your own worst critic. Feel free to let us know if you have a favorite side or something that bugs you. We will do our best to make sure you look your best!

Why do I have to sign a Contract with a Model Release?

It protects both you and the photographer by stating clearly where and how the images may be used.

How do I pay?

We invoice online and all major credit and debit cards or bank transfers are accepted.  We don't accept personal checks or payment at the session.

When do session fees need to be paid?

We require the full session fee to be paid to reserve the day and time for the photography session and also need to be paid at least 24-hours prior to the session. All session fees and deposits are invoiced and paid online via credit/debit card or bank transfer.
